Shakera Lawrence of For the Love of Gardening Family Farm says there’s nothing like the therapy you get while putting your hands in the dirt. From her 0.3 acre urban farm in Decatur, Georgia, Lawrence grows a variety of vegetables, herbs, eggs, chicken, and bulk seed starts, motivated by the love of providing for her community.
Lawrence is harnessing this Beginning Farmer Stipend to improve infrastructure and prepare for late summer and fall planting. The funding will help For the Love of Gardening expand production and create a stronger setup for seedlings, produce, and long-term farm sustainability.
