Growing Communities Training Sponsored by Come to the Table
Monday, February 18th, 2013 from 9am-4pm
Greensboro Children’s Museum | Greensboro, NC
This is a daylong interactive training on the community organizing strategies needed to develop sustainable community gardens and other community-based food projects. Maria Hitt and Lisa Poser will be leading this training at the Greensboro Children’s Museum from 9am-4pm. Registration is on a sliding scale.

Food, Faith, and Justice: A Common Calling
Wednesday, February 20th, 2013 from 8:30am-2:30pm
The Enterprise Banquet and Conference Center | Winston-Salem, NC
This conference is “a visionary gathering exploring the role of churches and faith communities in promoting health in the Piedmont Triad through improving access to healthy food for all.” Keynote speakers include two nationally-renowned food justice advocates: James Beard Award-winning Malik Yakini, who will speak about his work around urban farming in Detroit, and food hub entrepreneur Haile Johnston, who works to connect churches with farms and inner city food deserts in Philadelphia. Co-sponsored by WFU’s Translational Science Institute and the Maya Angelou Center for Health Equity. This conference is free but advance registration is required.
