In 2023, RAFI launched Living Roots®, a print magazine created for small- to mid-scale farmers and their supporters. Living Roots fills a special niche by highlighting the voices and experiences of farmers and their communities — stories often missing from broader agricultural conversations. Farming is a challenging and risky business, and through Living Roots, RAFI offers a deeper look at the people, land, and relationships that sustain our food and our future.

You’ll find practical how-to stories, spotlights on innovative and underrepresented farmers, and stories about creative ideas for accessing land or adding conservation practices to yours. Living Roots also seeks to share information on running a farming business, including working with the USDA, loans and credit, recordkeeping, disaster preparedness, and more, to help farmers make informed decisions.
