Hydraulic Fracturing: Where are we now?

These slides have been presented by RAFI Research & Policy Associate James Robinson to landowner groups throughout North Carolina. In this slideshow, James provides an update of where the Mining and Energy Commission currently stands in the rule-writing process, a brief history of mineral rights leasing in Lee County, what North Carolina law currently says about forced pooling, the Compulsory Pooling Study Group’s role in the forced pooling debate and RAFI’s recommendations regarding forced pooling. The Compulsory Pooling Study Group of the North Carolina Mining and Energy Commission (MEC) is studying North Carolina’s forced pooling law and reporting needed regulatory changes or updates, including legislative proposals, by Oct 1, 2013 to the Joint Legislative Commission on Energy Policy and the Environmental Review Commission.
RAFI-USA staff are currently working remotely. As we plan for how COVID-19 will change both how we do our work, and what work needs to be done, please know that we are still here. Our Farmer Hotline (866-586-6746) will operate from Monday-Saturday from 9am to 6pm. Stay tuned for more updates and information.
