List of RAFI Grant Recipients

We initiated our grant program in 1997 to assist farmers transitioning out of conventional tobacco production transform their farms and put their own ideas to work. In 2002, we began receiving funding from the NC Tobacco Trust Fund Commission to expand the program to serve more farmers all across North Carolina. The grant program is dedicated to assisting farmers transition and transform their farms, enhancing their sustainability and financial viability. Today, the grant program continues to rely on the generous support of the NC Tobacco Trust Fund Commission.

Each year, the Agricultural Reinvestment Fund awards grants to between 20 and 30 farmer and collaborative agricultural groups to carry out entrepreneurial and innovative projects in agriculture. These projects have increased the success of farm businesses in rural North Carolina in addition to serving as demonstrations of entrepreneurship and innovation for farmers across the state.
