“Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.” – Mister Rogers
In the midst of increasing grocery prices and decreasing nutrition assistance benefits, food security and access challenges are multiplying by the day across North Carolina. As food security organizations and emergency food assistance programs continue to help their neighbors, Come to the Table (CTTT) is here to help, too.
By offering customized support to churches, we aim to help faith communities expand beyond charity toward justice and solidarity. Through capacity-building support, each partner is equipped to become an active agent of justice in their community.
So, CTTT’s support is tailored to meet each faith community’s goals, context, and capacity. Our technical assistance supports any faith community in North Carolina that:
- is currently engaged in a food ministry or planning to start one
- is committed to exploring how their ministry can promote food justice
- wants to deepen their connection to local farmers, neighbors, or systems change
- is working to strengthen dignity and choice in their ministry
This program is a direct expression of Come to the Table’s mission to empower faith communities to participate in the creation of a just food system through collaboration, capacity building, and advocacy. As communities across the state continue to connect, organize, and act in the midst of expanding food apartheid and diminished food sovereignty, Come to the Table is here to help the helpers. Whether you’re just getting started or are a well-established program, we want to support your faith community as you serve your neighbors.
