Protect North Carolina Workers with an Executive Order!

We call on state leaders to take immediate action to protect workers who put their lives on the line while sustaining North Carolina’s largest industries and our food supply. Workers on the frontline of North Carolina’s food system have been disproportionately impacted by COVID-19 due to limited workplace protections and enforcement. 

Over the past year, workers, advocates, faith leaders, and community members raised concerns about the daily hardships, devastating illnesses, and increasing deaths faced by North Carolina’s workers while calling on the state to protect food workers’ health and safety.  Since the beginning of this deadly pandemic, North Carolina has prioritized corporate profits and industry relationships over the health of our food workers, their families, and our communities. This must end today! 

We call on our state leaders to take immediate action to protect life-threatening workers to support North Carolina’s largest industries and to provide us with food. Frontline workers in the food industry in North Carolina have been disproportionately affected by COVID-19 due to the limited application of protective measures in the workplace. Over the past six months, workers, advocates, religious leaders, and community members have drawn attention to the daily hardships, devastating ailments, and the growing number of deaths that North Carolina workers face. while demanding that the state act to protect the health and safety of food workers. Since the beginning of this fatal pandemic, North Carolina has prioritized corporate profits and industry relationships over the health of food workers, their families, and our communities. This must end today.
