This past Father’s Day, CNN ran an article featuring our Director of Farm Sustainability, and new dad, Joe Schroeder. The article highlighted the benefits of paternity leave for new fathers. RAFI is among only 11.4% of U.S. workplaces to offer that benefit. We are proud to live out our values through the benefits to our staff. And we’re so happy that Joe had the time to spend with baby Alma Lucette.
“RAFI personnel policies are (and have always been) designed to provide stability for a staff with wages typical of the small non-profit social justice organization,” Joe says. “This includes paid leave for new parents, adequate paid vacation, full cost coverage health benefits, flexible work arrangements, staff seat on the board, etc. This makes sense, especially in tough economic times, and people value parts of it at different stages of their lives. Having just finished my three-month paternity leave in May, I can say that my family is more stable, healthy and happy as a direct result.”
Welcome back, Joe. And welcome to the world, Alma!
