Farmer John Vollmer of Vollmer Farm and RAFI Executive Director Scott Marlow are featured in a radio news piece today that reports on the season’s heavy rainfall and the real crisis it presents for farmers.
The story highlights a need for better federal crop insurance policy. Vollmer is on RAFI’s Crop Insurance Advisory Panel.
“One of the things that keeps me from expanding or wanting to expand, is the lack of being able to cover the risk.” Vollmer said that because of this year’s loss, he’s downsizing his farm next year to further reduce his risk.
The story was published by North Carolina News Service and has been picked up by Clear Channel radio stations. To listen to the full piece and read the transcript, click here.
