James Brewer is a vegetable farmer operating in Greenwood, Mississippi who turned his retirement passion for raising produce into a new living. What started as just two acres and word of mouth has grown into a five-acre farm that provides vegetables for his local farmers market and even a contract with a well-established grocery chain. James attributes his growth to his relationship with his customers and the quality of his produce. With his grant award, James plans to repair a storage building on his property as well as purchase a pea sheller and freezer so that he can provide his customers with shelled peas and keep them stored safely until the moment of sale.
