- USDA Announces Approval of D-SNAP for North Carolina Disaster Areas (D-SNAP) (9.25.18): NC residents recovering from Hurricane Florence (even those not normally eligible for SNAP) may be eligible for disaster food assistance benefits through the USDA’s Disaster SNAP (D-SNAP). Households must meet income limits & have qualifying disaster expenses. The deadline to apply was Saturday, October 6, 2018. Find locations here.
- “USDA Provides Additional Food Options to SNAP Participants Impacted by Hurricane Florence” (9.17.18) The USDA allowed SNAP participants impacted by Hurricane Florence to use benefits to buy hot/prepared foods until October 31, 2018 and to submit claims for food lost and request replacement benefits until October 15, 2018.
