State-elected officials play critical roles in how food system opportunities and challenges are addressed. RAFI-USA, along with a diverse group of NC organizations, hosted a virtual, nonpartisan candidate conversation to provide North Carolinians an opportunity to hear directly from candidates running for NC state-level offices on issues related to agriculture, food, and hunger in our state.
RAFI-USA, Carolina Farm Stewardship Association, Feeding the Carolinas, the North Carolina Alliance for Health, MomsRising, and the North Carolina Rural Center hosted Farms, Food, and Hunger: A Conversation with Candidates on September 9, 2020, 7:00-8:30 p.m. Calvin Allen of Rural Forward NC moderated the virtual candidate conversation.
Attendees included candidates for the offices of NC Labor Commissioner (Josh Dobson [R], Jessica Holmes [D]), NC Agriculture Commissioner (Steve Troxler [R], Jennifer Wadsworth [D]), NC Superintendent of Public Instruction (Jen Mangrum [D]), and NC Lieutenant Governor (Yvonne Holley [D]).
