Every five years, the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) conducts the Census of Agriculture.
As Renee Picanso of NASS says, “If you want to be heard and you want agriculture represented, now is your chance.”
All farmers should have received Census forms in the mail this December. The due date for completed forms is Feb 4th.
Farmers who did not receive a questionnaire in the mail should sign up to receive a questionnaire at: www.agcounts.usda.gov/cgi-bin/counts/. Farmers will have until March 31st to sign up.
The Census of Agriculture is a valuable tool that USDA uses to evaluate its programs and services. Responses from farmers across the country help shape policy, research priorities, and the allocation of resources and funding.
Again, to be counted and have your voice heard, make sure to mail or complete your form online before Feb 4th.
Go to www.agcensus.usda.gov to send in your form online and get more information.
