Farmers! Think you’re eligible for BIPOC debt relief? Confirm your race/ethnicity designation with your local FSA office today.
As part of the American Rescue Plan Act, $5 billion has been allocated to provide debt relief to BIPOC farmers. Eligible farmers and ranchers are those who 1) identify as Black, American Indian/Alaska Native, Hispanic, Asian, and Hawaiian/Pacific Islander, and 2) who hold current or delinquent debt on a FSA Direct or Guaranteed loan as of January 1, 2021. If you believe you are eligible contact your FSA office today to confirm they have the correct race/ethnicity designation for you on file. Or, complete the form AD-2047 and submit it to your FSA office.
We’ve heard reports of BIPOC farmers’ race being incorrectly recorded in FSA files. As the USDA will rely on their records to notify farmers of debt relief eligibility, it is very important to confirm your race/ethnicity designation with your FSA office this week.
