[Durham, NC, December 23, 2019] – RAFI -USA is thrilled to share the recent announcement of Farm Aid’s 2019 grantee list. For 30 year’s RAFI-USA has been awarded grants from Farm Aid to continue our on- on-one personal farmer assistance that is so desperately needed to keep family farms in business.
With the support of Farm Aid, RAFI-USA provides in-depth counseling to farmers at critical times of their lives, like crisis, beginning farmers, and transitioning farmers. We provide expertise in mitigating financial crises, inter- generational farm transfers, accessing federal programs, and developing new farm enterprises. We also work with organizations and communities across the United States, helping climate change affected farmers, increasing the likelihood of their sustainability.
We pursue systemic reforms that increase the ability of farmers to provide healthy food & wholesome products, while increasing their potential for economic viability. These include credit reforms, risk management, disaster assistance, contract farming reforms, and loan guarantee reforms.
With the grant provided to RAFI-USA from Farm Aid in 2018, RAFI-USA’s Farm Advocacy program was able to assist farmers in crisis by providing resources to recoup loses and keep farmers and their families in their homes and on their farms.
