Cheryl Gibson runs Vine and Branch, a small boutique flower farm in Durham, NC where she grows specialty cut flowers and sells wholesale to local florists and wedding designers. She started this venture after the youngest of her three children left home to attend college, which left her with more time for gardening. What began as a hobby, quickly turned into a passion for growing and nurturing flowers which blossomed into a community-based business. She has recently begun selling bulk flower arrangements to the public through CSA subscriptions, and plans to use her infrastructure grant money to purchase a floral cooler to extend the shelf life of her flowers. This cooler will allow Cheryl to extend her selling season, as well as provide more varieties and larger quantities of flowers to her customer base.
