This goat ain’t kidding. We’ve helped hundreds of goats like her thrive on family pastures! All jokes aside, your support truly makes a difference in the work we do.
#GivingTuesday is a day dedicated to a spirit of giving. It is meant to spur a wave of generosity throughout the country after three days of national shopping days.
What does that have to do with a goat? Lindale Farms in North Carolina is one of a handful of farms in the Organic Valley Co-op. A small herd of dairy cows now shares space with a herd of goats, thanks to a grant from RAFI. The farmer works on land that has been in his family since the 1890s. He has taken up the difficult task of raising a herd of goats on pasture–naturally–with just the right kind of grass and herbs to keep them strong and healthy. As a result, that goat in the picture churns out award-winning goat cheese. And the farmer continues to build a sustainable livelihood for his family.
Why does all that matter today? After days of giving thanks and of buying gifts, #GivingTuesday is meant to spur a nationwide wave of generosity. And it is through generous support that RAFI has been able to save hundreds of family farms. Today, we need that support more than ever. It is the future of not only our rural communities, but of our food and our health. We hope you consider RAFI when you choose to give back.
Please consider RAFI when you give. Donate today for a better future for family farmers.
