Carrboro Farmers’ Market big check presentation

Tobacco Communities Reinvestment Fund, in the field…

This picture was taken May 1st, 2010, during a big check presentation from RAFI-USA and the North Carolina Tobacco Trust Fund Commission. This check of $17,821.00 to the Carrboro Farmers’ Market, in Carrboro, NC, is a community grant offered by the Tobacco Communities Reinvestment Fund grant program for Carrboro Farmers’ Market to aid their project to market their new credit/debit/EBT (SNAP/Food Stamps) capabilities, which allows customers to make purchases outside using cash.

As you can see, the agricultural community in North Carolina is a happy community, especially when grants are given to help farmers in this area. Pictured in this photo are NC Senator Eleanor Kinnaird (center), NC Tobacco Trust Fund Commission Executive Director William Upchurch (left), and representatives from the 21st Century Farmers’ Market program, the Carrboro Farmers’ Market, and RAFI-USA.
