Breyon Pierce

Breyon Pierce is a sixth-generation farmer who farms with his father Glen in Dendron, Virginia cultivating 250 acres of corn, 35 acres of peanuts, 400 acres of soybeans, 80 acres of wheat, and 50 acres of timber. Due to their planning and application methods, the Pierce family has been awarded the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation Clean Water Farm Award, The NRCS Farmer of the Year Award, and their local Ruritan’s Club Farmer of the Year Award. Breyon intends to use his grant award from FOCN to expand his family’s storage capacity so that they can more effectively market their products to local farmers markets and grocery stores and enrich their community which is located in a food desert.
