In addition to serving as chair of RAFI-USA's Direct Service Team, Lisa is the program manager for the Expanding Farmers Market Access program. Prior to joining RAFI-USA, Lisa served as the AmeriCorps VISTA Volunteer at the College of Menominee Nation in Keshena, WI and has worked on small, sustainable farms in the Midwest and internationally. She holds a BA in Environmental Studies from St. Olaf College.

RAFI-USA’s new blog series, Flaws in the Food System – 2020 Was Just an Alarm Bell, will lift up the stories of farmers, farmers markets, and other stakeholders who have received direct service support or grant funds from RAFI-USA over the years. Their stories illustrate how systemic and institutional inequities affect their lives and work.

Federal Support Available for Resilient Food and Farming Systems

In this blog we summarize the currently or soon-to-be available resources and programs for farmers and those engaged in local food marketplaces and agricultural communities. As Congress continues to work on major spending bills for climate change and infrastructure, there may be a once-in-a-generation opportunity to secure large amounts of funding to support resilient food and farming systems and to tackle the climate crisis.
