National Organic Action Plan Summit

The National Organic Action Plan Summit will take place from Noon on Wednesday, February 25  through 6 pm on Thursday, February 26 2009 in La Crosse, Wisconsin. 

The goal of this Summit is to build consensus among a diverse set of stakeholders around a draft of a National Organic Action Plan that reflects the input received from listening sessions held across the United States over the past two years.  It provides a foundation for policymakers and participants of all types to move forward a vibrant organic food and agriculture system in the United States.  The Summit will consist of a review of the results of the national listening sessions, presentation of a draft National Organic Action Plan based on these results, and an opportunity to discuss and amend the draft recommendations to reflect the needs and desires of stakeholders

Following receipt of your registration and payment, you will be mailed a copy of the Draft Plan.  In order to have a successful Summit, we ask that you have read the draft plan, and be prepared to offer your thoughts at the Summit.

You are responsible for your hotel room.  Hotel rooms at the Conference Center are at a premium due to the MOSES Conference.  If you are planning to stay on for MOSES, you can reserve rooms through MOSES.  If not, or if they are full, see the list below for  hotel rooms reserved for NOAP Summit participants.

Logistics & Transportation

Please arrange to fly into La Crosse, Wisconsin.  Hotels and the conference center are a short cab or car ride from the airport.  Hotels may offer airport shuttles.

Cost and Payment

The cost to participate is $200 ($150 for farmers or non-profits). This includes meeting materials, snacks both days and 4 meals: Dinner on Wednesday, and breakfast, lunch and dinner on Thursday.  If you need scholarship assistance, please ask. 

In order to include many voices in this Summit, we will be seeking scholarship dollars.  Travel such as this is especially hard for farmers of limited resources. If you are able to provide scholarship dollars in any amount, please add it to your registration fees.
