RAFI names Linda Shaw new executive director

The board and staff of the Rural Advancement Foundation International – USA are pleased to announce that Linda Shaw has been appointed Executive Director.

During January and February, Linda worked closely with Betty Bailey, RAFI’s founding executive director, to ensure a smooth transition. Betty has retired after more than 20 years of service.

Linda is a recognized leader in rural economic development with over 20 years experience in community and organizational development.

Raised on a farm in the Piedmont of North Carolina, Linda has pursued a professional career that reflects RAFI's core values of equity, justice and sustainability. She has extensive understanding of rural economies and a history of building diverse partnerships and creating positive change.

Linda is a former Senior Community Development Officer with Wachovia Bank and the first Executive Director of the North Carolina Low Income Housing Coalition, which she led for 11 years.

Linda's other professional experience includes advocacy and education with legal services programs in North Carolina and Kentucky, as well as research and evaluation of rural economic development programs at MDC, Inc.

RAFI has a proud heritage that we trace back to the 1930’s. We have built a strong organization that is effective and respected. All of us here are honored that Linda Shaw is becoming part of that heritage. We are excited about the talents, relationships, and passions she brings to the task.
